About the position

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our APAC legal team, to assist on Asia Pacific legal matters, specifically and with a primary focus on commercial contracts in the ANZ and Philippines Regions. Working under the direction of the Global Chief Legal Officer based in Richmond, Virginia, this individual will provide a wide range of support with respect to customer and partner contracts and any other legal matters servicing the ANZ region. 


What your day to day will look like:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, including NDAs, end user license agreements, professional services agreements, statements of work, marketing agreements, data processing addendums, employment agreements, supplier terms and conditions, and any other documents requiring legal review.
  • Developing and managing a contracts process for expirations, renewals, terminations, term escalators, and other key recurring milestone events
  • Providing advice on broad range of commercial matters, including intellectual property, employment, privacy, data protection and consumer law.
  • Assisting internal stakeholders to translate legal and regulatory advice into actionable solutions across different areas of the business including Sales, Delivery, Licensing, Product, Finance, Security, People, Operations and Procurement
  • Providing legal analysis and advice for projects in both ANZ and the Philippines, thereby supporting leadership teams to achieve business goals and objectives while ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations, as well as regional and global policies.
  • Reviewing and responding to legal aspects of security assessments, and any other corporate compliance or regulatory matters (e.g. modern slavery questionnaires)
  • Managing responses to contractual breaches and disputes
  • Collaborating with AvePoint legal teams in other jurisdictions including Singapore, Japan, the UK, Germany and the USA to ensure consistent legal processes across the global business
  • Engaging and managing external legal counsel as and when required

Additional qualities you’ll need to be a fit for this specific role include:

  • Australian law degree, current practicing certificate is a plus
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience negotiating, reviewing, analysing, and drafting legal documents, experience in or knowledge of employment law and corporate operations is a plus
  • Experience at a technology or SaaS company
  • Ability to identify and analyse complex legal issues, and elevate as appropriate
  • Ability to actively manage multiple matters simultaneously, among a variety of practice areas
  • Ability to take ownership of projects from inception to successful conclusion
  • Ability to work independently under high pressure situations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, including prioritisation and time management
  • Ability to synthesise complex sets of issues and propose paths forward
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team
  • Ability to deal confidently with internal business leadership and external customers at all organisational levels
