Job Description

As a Senior Flooding Engineer, your impact will be within our Victorian operations. The Flooding team delivers a wide variety of projects from small scale impact assessment to catchment wide mapping studies. Some of the focus areas include hydrologic analysis (catchment rainfall / runoff mainly using RORB) and hydraulic (1D and 2D) flood modelling (mainly using TUFLOW); flood risk and impact assessment; flood emergency response; dam break analysis and development of flood overlays for Planning Schemes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and reviewing hydraulic, hydrological models and calculations for application in flood studies, flood impact assessments and flood management plans.
  • Managing a range of large government and private sector flood mapping projects projects involving direct client liaison, attending meetings, preparation of progress updates and data collation.
  • Leading, mentoring and teaching graduate and engineer level team members as they work on your projects.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports.

Qualifications

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 5+ years’ professional experience with demonstrated technical expertise in flooding and stormwater engineering within a consultancy environment.

You will also have:

  • Tertiary Engineering degree (Civil, Environmental)
  • CPENG and/or RPEng (Vic) highly desired.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment highly desirable.
  • A good understanding/comprehension of hydrological and hydraulic investigations, particularly utilising TUFLOW and RORB in undertaking flood studies is required.
  • Applicants MUST have demonstrated experience in using and applying RORB and TUFLOW
  • Experience in using WBNM, URBS or HECRAS would be advantageous but is not a firm requirement.
  • Experience in GIS software with a particular focus on QGIS, FME and ArcGIS.
  • Demonstrated project management capability and client relationship management experience.
  • Proven leadership skills and a desire to train, guide and mentor less experienced engineers.
