As part of the Payments Channels & Reporting Crew, you'll lead engineering across one of the bank's most important payments systems. The Data Feeds & Reporting stream powers how business and institutional customers access payment, balance, transaction and merchant reporting information, enabling critical reconciliation and reporting services at significant scale.

Together, we're building the next generation of payments data and reporting capabilities through cloud-native engineering, event-driven architecture, AI-assisted delivery and modern engineering practices.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll be a key leader within the Payments Channels & Reporting leadership team, leading engineering across multiple squads. You'll shape technical strategy, uplift engineering excellence and modernise critical customer-facing platforms that support some of Australia's most important payment services.

In this role, you'll help define the future of payment reporting and data services while leading highly capable engineering teams through a period of growth and modernisation.

You will:

  • Lead engineering strategy and delivery across payment reporting, data feeds and customer reporting platforms.
  • Build and develop high-performing engineering teams across multiple squads and locations.
  • Drive modernisation from legacy and vendor platforms to cloud-native, event-driven architectures.
  • Champion engineering excellence across architecture, security, reliability and operational resilience.
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Risk, Cyber Security and broader Payments teams to deliver customer outcomes.
  • Influence technical direction across distributed systems, data engineering and real-time processing platforms.
  • Embed AI-assisted engineering practices to improve delivery quality, speed and developer productivity.
  • Create a culture of ownership, innovation, inclusion and continuous improvement.

You're an engineering leader first and foremost, combining deep technical expertise with proven people leadership. You enjoy solving complex technology challenges, developing engineering talent and shaping technology strategy at scale.

  • Extensive experience leading engineering teams across multiple squads, platforms or technology domains.
  • Strong technical background in cloud-native engineering, distributed systems and modern software architecture.
  • Experience building and operating large-scale reporting, data, integration or transaction processing platforms.
  • Demonstrated success developing high-performing engineers, technical leaders and engineering communities.
  • Experience driving platform modernisation, engineering transformation or complex technology change.
  • Strong understanding of AWS, microservices, event-driven architectures and DevSecOps practices.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate technical complexity into business outcomes.
  • Passion for engineering excellence, continuous learning and AI-assisted software delivery.
