We’re looking for a skilled Senior Engineer to support Shell Energy’s core B2C applications while helping build operational capability for a new digital platform domain. With respect, integrity and honesty, responsibilities include:
B2C Operations
- Maintain stability, security and performance of B2C applications.
- Lead and participate in incident investigation, root‑cause analysis and issue prioritisation.
- Support transformation of legacy systems and maintain clear operational documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Drive engineering improvements, automation and optimisation.
Emerging Technology
- Help establish and scale operational processes for a new digital platform.
- Develop monitoring, alerting and support frameworks.
- Provide advanced technical support for integrations and platform issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, architecture and vendors to ensure reliable service operation.
- Uplift automation, reliability and engineering practices.
Shared Responsibilities
- Apply engineering best practice across both domains.
- Contribute to design discussions and system improvement planning.
- Work cross‑functionally with product, DevOps, architecture and business teams.
- Identify simplification and continuous‑improvement opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to Shell’s security and compliance standards.
Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:
- Strong software engineering background (SQL, Python, C#, Typescript or similar).
- Experience with Agile delivery, CI/CD, DevOps, automation and infrastructure management.
- Knowledge of cloud (AWS preferred), distributed systems and security best practice.
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and config‑management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Solid communication, problem‑solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Adaptability, resilience, customer focus and a collaborative mindset.
- Degree in Computer Science/IT/Engineering; relevant certifications desirable.
