The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer – HV Substation Secondary Systems to join our Energy & Utilities team. In this role, you will lead the delivery of high-quality engineering designs across complex substation projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing technical expertise and contributing to innovative, safe, and compliant engineering solutions.
As part of this role, you will:
- Deliver detailed secondary system designs in accordance with client, Australian, and international standards
- Produce design drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to engineers
- Support the delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective project outcomes
This is a full-time permanent role and can be based in Underdale (SA), Milton (QLD), or Melbourne (VIC) for the right candidate.
What We Are Looking For
You are a collaborative and technically strong engineer with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key requirements include:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Extensive experience in HV substation secondary systems design
- Strong knowledge of HV substation protection schemes relays, substation automation and control systems, AC and DC auxiliary systems
- Basic knowledge of power system design including primary plant such as, transformers, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, CVTs reactors, capacitor banks and filter banks
- Experience developing Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection & control schematics and logic diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules, and control building layouts
- Proven ability to deliver complete engineering design packages and manage documentation
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as MicroStation and AutoCAD and engineering software (e.g. PowerFactory, PSCAD)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
You will also bring a strong understanding of quality assurance processes and a proactive approach to safe work practices.
