Focus of the Role

This position will see you operate as part of a small team of SMEs responsible for the understanding, coordination, communication, and security certification of technology build & service activation patterns derived from numerous sources within the organization. Drawing on an extensive knowledge of Information Technologies and Cyber Security/Compliance frameworks, you will be the corner stone of ensuring that all security certified patterns are carried out in a manner that drives maturity and improvement into our cyber risk posture, without negatively impacting business operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide Security/Compliance SME oversight on Pattern Assessments.

  • Ensure patterns are reviewed and managed in a timely manner, against Telstra policy and standards.

  • Conduct life cycle reviews against existing patterns to ensure ongoing compliance and alignment to security standards and policies.

  • Conduct reviews based on Telstra and/or industry standards, to establish baseline compliance for service patterns.

  • Ensure all pattern governance tooling and functionality is maintained between security and other business units.

  • Build relationships with technical teams to continually understand pattern priorities and expectations and drive risk-based approach to ensure focussed improvements where there is poor security posture.

  • Ensure ongoing improvements/efficiencies are identified and implemented into Pattern Governance processes.

  • Provide critical thinking and strategic initiatives to maintain a continuous improvement program of assessment work practices and training.

  • Contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of security policies, standards and governance structures.

  • Assist with the development of Security programs and initiatives to help mature Telstra’s Security posture.

  • Provide advice and guidance on cyber security issues as required by Telstra’s Cyber Security programs.

  • HSE Responsibility: Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others, comply with and implement any reasonable Telstra HSE instruction, policy, standard, minimum requirement or procedure, and support Telstra to meet its duties under the relevant safety and environmental legislation.

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years of recent relevant experience in Cyber Security, including experience leading a cyber risk program.

  • Knowledge of current trends within the Cyber Security threat landscape.

  • Understanding of Quality Management and Information Security Standards, NIST, ISO27001, ASD, TSSR

  • Cyber Security related technical, theoretical, and practical knowledge.

  • ICT Security Risk Management experience.

  • High level of technical knowledge around Cyber/ICT systems.

  • Relevant university level qualification or industry relevant training and certifications or experience.

  • A demonstrated ability to provide confident and assured presentations to audiences including senior management, with a mix of technical and non-technical groups.

  • A collaborative, team first approach to personnel management and task execution.

  • Well-developed critical thinking.

  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently, maintaining reliability, self-motivation, and the motivation of the team

Highly desirable:

  • Experience leading teams

  • Federal and State Government Cyber Security, Risk and Compliance experience

  • Proactive, resilient, and able to work productively.

  • Audit Qualification (CISA/ISO lead Auditor) viewed favorably.

  • Broad knowledge across a range of compliance frameworks

  • Knowledge and use of Telstra’s Cyber Control frameworks · Understanding of Australian cyber laws and standard
