This role is part of our corporate team, a central hub for Thales Australia. In this pivotal position, you will play a critical role in supporting the Munitions Domain, at Thales Australia to capture opportunities and achieve optimal contract management outcomes across the Munitions bids and projects portfolio.

Our Munitions teams produces propellants, explosives and munitions for defence and commercial uses. With ongoing investment into research and development, we produce a range of explosive ordnance systems for the Australian Defence Force and its allies.

Based in our Melbourne Office in the World Trade Centre on Wurundjeri land, your role purpose is to –

  • Manage full contract lifecycles, from drafting and negotiation to claims and disputes ensuring compliance

  • Provide commercial leadership across tendering activities

  • Collaborate with Finance, Procurement and other business units to drive better commercial and financial outcomes by identifying risks and opportunities and optimising contract structures

  • Assist the Australian Munitions Compliance Officer to maintain and achieve compliance – areas such as competition law, anti-corruption and integrity

  • Act as trusted advisor and foster ongoing collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours: 

  • Qualifications in business, finance, commerce, law, engineering, or similar field

  • Proven experience  in contract, legal or commercial, or project management roles ideally across complex performance-based contracting

  • Experience in property leases, capital works programs and construction is desirable

  • Experience with government contracting of ASDEFCON contract frameworks and Commonwealth procurement frameworks

  • Track record in delivering contracts of scale and risk/opportunity management expertise

  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage successfully with customers and suppliers to achieve outcomes

  • Ability to travel regionally as needed

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

The U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
