About the role

As Senior Bid Manager, you will be part of Xylem’s Engineering, Projects and Contracts Team, supporting customers and external sales teams with the preparation of bids, quotes and responses to technical enquiries across Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the Commercial Bid Manager, ANZ, you will lead the sourcing, review and submission of bids and quotes for contracts and customer opportunities. Your focus will be ensuring bids are commercially viable, profitable, technically sound and aligned to customer requirements, while delivering a professional and consistent customer experience.

You will work closely with teams across Sales, Product Marketing, Applications and Engineering, applying your engineering, water and broader industry knowledge to support strong customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with consultants, customers and other stakeholders alongside Sales and Service & Rental teams to assess requirements and provide advice, recommendations and bid support.
  • Coordinate bids internally and externally, working closely with Sales and Service & Rental teams to support growth across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Select, configure, price and quote solutions that meet customer specifications and deliver the best technical and commercial fit.
  • Prepare detailed costings and tender-specific documentation to support successful bid outcomes.
  • Collaborate across functions to deliver strong technical and commercial solutions across a range of Xylem products and customer requirements.
  • Source, review and submit technical bids on time, ensuring customer communication is timely and professional.
  • Provide input into the Salesforce CRM pipeline for Xylem opportunities and support timely order entry and handover of won bids.
  • Strengthen commercial and operational review processes to ensure bids are commercially viable, profitable, competitive and attractive to customers.
  • Promote Xylem’s products and capability to engineering consultancies involved in design specifications for water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Support continuous improvement across bid, quote and customer enquiry touchpoints, including pricing, forecasting, reporting and knowledge-sharing activities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in engineering, contract negotiation, bid management, estimating, quotations, tendering or sales, ideally within an engineering environment.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and experience preparing quotations, tenders or estimates for customer opportunities.
  • Confidence working with contract terms and conditions, pricing, costings and commercial review processes.
  • The ability to interpret customer requirements and develop bid solutions that meet technical, commercial and customer expectations.
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial and customer-facing teams.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Commercial experience in the pump, water or similar industry, with familiarity in water or pump applications highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, marketing, business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience working directly with customers, well-developed supplier relationships, strong market knowledge, and coaching or mentoring capability will also be highly regarded.
