Your New Role 

Reporting to the Director, ESG & Stewardship, this role will support integration of ESG analysis and insights into the private markets ESG & Stewardship program, implementation of an ESG data vendor, ESG data collection and analysis, and delivery of ESG regulatory reporting requirements. 

 

As part of our ESG & Stewardship team in Investments, you will be collecting, managing, analysing and transforming ESG data on private markets investments (infrastructure, property, private equity, private credit) into accurate and actionable insights to drive stewardship actions.

 

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Undertake ESG data collection from private markets portfolio companies and unlisted external fund managers, including questionnaire development, stakeholder management and communication, and mailout management. This includes supporting the implementation of an ESG data collection vendor. 

  • Support the ESG team with ESG data consolidation, verification and quality control across the private markets investments portfolio. This includes supporting delivery of data for ESG regulatory reporting requirements. 

  • Develop scalable processes for ongoing data control, streamlining data collection, audit control and audit readiness, and vendor performance management.

  • Identify ESG data best practices and portfolio data gaps, and recommend improvements to data collection and data management.

  • Develop dashboards to track and monitor ESG performance across the private market investments portfolio.

  • Prepare communications materials and conduct engagement and education sessions with internal stakeholders, such as on evolving Australian regulatory reporting requirements and insights from portfolio ESG data. 

  • Collaborate with Technology and Investment asset class teams, to ensure alignment with AustralianSuper technology and data policies, standards, platforms and initiatives.

  • Support the ESG team as required with transaction due diligence and asset ownership activities.

 

 

What You’ll Need   

  • Tertiary qualifications, likely in Commerce, Sustainability/ ESG, Statistics, Data Science or Strategy, or equivalent/ associated field.

  • 4+ years’ experience in responsible investment, ESG/ sustainability/ climate research or reporting, investment data and analytics, or other relevant practical experience. 

  • Knowledge and experience using ESG/ sustainability reporting standards and frameworks – e.g. ASRS AASB S1/S2, ISSB, GHG Protocol, PCAF, ILPA, CDP, TCFD, TISFD, CSDDD. 

  • Strong data and analytical skills – Proficiency in MS Excel, BI Tools (Tableau, Power BI), SQL; with Database management, Python, data visualisation skills highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated judgement, critical thinking and problem solving.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Prior experience with unlisted asset classes, and experience in ESG/EHS/WHS due diligence in deals and transactions both highly regarded but not essential.
