Job Description

The Team

  • The APAC Marketing Strategy team is responsible for shaping the overarching marketing and brand strategy, working closely with segment, product, channel, and country teams to ensure alignment with company objectives. The team manages a diverse portfolio of research studies and market/customer-focused data analytics to uncover valuable customer insights, ensuring the voice of the customer is integrated throughout the organisation. Additionally, the team leads the end-to-end marketing operational alignment, driving effective planning, coordination, and performance across the APAC Marketing team.
  • Key stakeholders include the Executive and Commercial Leadership Teams, Marketing, Product, Technology, Sales and Service, Commercial Growth and Strategy.
  • Our team members are based in Melbourne, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, providing an international perspective and collaboration across SEEK’s key markets.
  • This role is part of the Market Data & Customer Analytics focus within the broader APAC Marketing Strategy team and will support markets across the APAC region.  

The Role

This is a key enabling role within SEEK's well-established data analytics function, which was named a semi-finalist in the Centre of Business Analytics (Melbourne Business School) 2023 Practice Prize. As a team, we are data and analytics experts who get marketing and are great at distilling commercial problems to create high-impact insights and/or enable business outcomes. In this role, you will play an important part in delivering customer-focused analytics for marketing and contribute to key strategic initiatives across the organisation. We are looking for a structured thinker with experience in customer analytics and its application through marketing channels, as well as a proven experience of providing analytics expertise in cross-functional project teams, helping drive insight to action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data analysis and insight generation. - Collect, analyse, report and interpret data from various sources to generate insight on marketing performance, campaign effectiveness, and customer behaviour. Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to understand their objectives and deliver analytics that is actionable and drives value.
  • Data automation and pipeline development. - Develop robust data models, ETL data applications and semantic layers to support reporting and self-service analytics.
  • Cross-functional collaboration. - Work closely with marketing teams to understand their data objectives and priorities. Represent marketing in cross functional data projects. Participate in cross-functional projects to delivery data-driven insights into marketing strategy and execution.
  • Continuous improvement and innovation. - Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in customer analytics. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and innovation to enhance analytics capabilities and deliver efficiency.
  • Employment market insight. - Stay abreast of the employment market by monitoring demographic, policy and economic trends that impact the employment sector. Deliver employment market insight to a range of internal and external audiences.
  • Statistical capability uplift. - Build and deploy statistical models and advanced analytics to solve business challenges.
  • Analytics product optimisation. - Optimise performance of programs, scripts, dashboards, queries, and data transformations. Improve user experience, loading time and resource utilisation.
  • Data quality and assurance. - Follow established quality assurance standards, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, automation and consistency of analytical output.

 

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a data analytics role that delivers tangible business outcomes, preferably within a marketing or commercial environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and insights to both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability building ETL data applications, using Databricks as a plus.
  • Proficiency using Apache Spark, PySpark, Airflow, DBT or equivalent frameworks.
  • Experience working with distributed data processing and cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
  • Proficient in data manipulation and statistical analysis using SQL, R, Python or similar.
  • Experience with visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview).
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable collaborating and building strong relationships across diverse teams, especially with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant commercial or quantitative discipline (e.g., commerce, marketing, economics, mathematics, technology).

 

Other Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Experience working across the marketing/advertising technology ecosystem a plus (eg, Google Analytics, BigQuery, CDP, Amplitude, Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
  • Understanding of advanced analytics techniques and procedures (e.g., predictive analytics, statistical modelling) and applied knowledge of ‘when’ and ‘how’ to apply these appropriately.
  • Understanding of digital marketing metrics and analytics techniques.
  • Experience in marketing campaign measurement techniques and approaches to experimentation.
