The Salesforce Data Migration Lead is accountable for the end‑to‑end data workstream on Salesforce programs, covering data migration, data governance, and data quality. The role ensures data enters Salesforce accurately, consistently, and in line with agreed scope, design and governance checkpoints, with clear auditability and cutover readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

Data strategy & scope

  • Define and own the Data Migration Strategy and Scope, including datasets, target model alignment, and migration approach.
  • Manage Data Model Freeze and Data Scope Freeze, including impact assessment for changes and escalation where scope materially shifts.
  • Establish data governance guardrails (ownership, approvals, sign‑off points).

Data discovery & mapping

  • Lead source system analysis, data profiling and volume assessment.
  • Produce and govern source‑to‑target mappings, transformation rules, and assumptions.
  • Align mappings to Salesforce configuration and integration design.

Data quality

  • Define and manage data cleansing, deduplication and validation rules with business stakeholders.
  • Oversee reconciliation activities (counts, exceptions, relationships) and maintain evidence for sign‑off.
  • Own resolution of data‑related defects through test cycles and cutover.

Migration planning & execution

  • Plan and manage migration waves aligned to release and cutover strategy.
  • Coordinate extract, transform and load activities into Salesforce using approved tools.
  • Own migration runbooks, rehearsal plans, cutover checklists and rollback approach.

Cutover & hyper care

  • Lead data cutover execution and verification activities.
  • Support hypercare with post‑go‑live reconciliation, issue triage and remediation planning.
  • Handover data artefacts, controls and operational processes to BAU.

Delivery & stakeholder management

  • Work closely with Solution Architect, Delivery Lead, functional leads, test lead and client SMEs.
  • Provide clear data workstream reporting (status, risks, readiness, decisions required).
  • Maintain data‑related RAID items and assumption tracking.

Key deliverables (typical)

  • Data Migration Strategy & Scope Definition
  • Target data model alignment and Data Model Freeze artefacts
  • Dataset inventory and Data Scope Freeze artefacts
  • Source‑to‑target mappings and transformation specifications
  • Data quality rules, cleansing and reconciliation evidence
  • Migration runbooks, wave plans and cutover plan
  • Data sign‑off and handover documentation

Required experience:

  • Proven experience leading data migration workstreams on Salesforce programs.
  • Strong hands‑on capability in:
    • data profiling, mapping and transformations
    • data quality, deduplication and reconciliation
    • migration cutover planning and execution
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce data loading constraints and patterns.
  • Comfortable operating in fixed‑price or tightly governed delivery models.

Tools & environment:

  • Salesforce Data Loader / Import Wizard / approved migration tooling
  • Excel‑based data analysis and transformation (where appropriate)
  • Jira / Azure DevOps for backlog and defect management
  • Confluence / SharePoint for artefact governance

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in either Information Systems or Computer Science or a related field.

  • Certifications in data management or related areas (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional) preferred.

Nice to have (project‑dependent)

  • Experience with complex customer data models (hierarchies, multi‑BU, industry clouds).
  • Experience working with ERP or legacy source systems feeding Salesforce.
  • Exposure to regulated data domains (privacy, retention, audit)
