Where the team fits in 

The Risk & Assurance team sits within the Finance & Business Services Group, headed up by Janelle Hopkins our CFO. The Finance and Business Services Group, or FaBS as we like to call them, is the engine room of REA Group. The team is comprised of Finance, Risk, Workplace & Procurement, Pricing, Customer Collections, Payments, Group Reporting, Corporate Comms, Corporate Development, Strategy and Investor Relations. 

 

This cross-functional group of individuals who are the best in their fields, provide strategic commercial input and guidance around decisions across all levels of the business, while continually improving the ‘behind the scenes’ of REA to support our people, drive efficiencies and maximise customer satisfaction. 

 

The Risk & Assurance Advisor plays an important within our Risk & Assurance team and is a dedicated risk & compliance subject matter expert who will work with our Customer & Consumer Product business units to drive the implementation of the REA Risk Management Framework and ultimately uplift REA’s risk culture. 

 

What the role is all about 

  • Assisting the Head of Risk via the Business Unit Risk Leads, drive the implementation of the REA Risk Management Framework 

  • Provide support to the business by facilitating and managing risk workshops to identify, assess, and report on key risks (primarily for proposed strategic initiatives, projects and/or changes in business/operations) 

  • Assisting the partner businesses to consider the risks associated with product change by conducting Change Risk Assessments and working with the business to develop controls and mitigants where required 

  • Assist the Risk Leads in maintaining the Business Unit Risk Profile, including Compliance Obligations, to ensure that potential and current risks faced by the business are articulated, quantified (financial and non-financial), mitigated and monitored 

  • Analysis and reporting of key information relating to the management of risk exposures by the business 

  • Assist in ensuring risks, issues and events are discussed, addressed and escalated in an appropriate and timely manner 

  • For the assigned partner businesses and via the Risk Leads, assist the Head of Risk to develop the applicable annual Risk Appetite Statement and limits for approval by the REA Board taking into consideration current and emerging organisational risk appetite and strategic direction 

  • Assist the Head of Risk to drive a culture that is risk aware and appropriately responsive 

  • Assist the business in ensuring the effective and timely resolution of Audit Issues 

 

Who we’re looking for 

  • At least 2 years’ experience in an Operational Risk and/or Compliance related role, demonstrating good knowledge of risks and controls 

  • Previous experience in technology risk management, Audit and an understanding of product development principles and best practices is desirable  

  • Experience in undertaking risk profile and compliance reviews including controls testing, will be highly valuable 

  • Excellent business and report writing skills 

  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritise delivery of key projects and initiatives in terms of own workload as well as for the team 

  • Strong communication and presentation skills – able to prepare engaging and persuasive messages to internal and external senior stakeholders
