What you will be doing

The Regulatory Reporting & Assurance Lead is responsible for coordinating regulatory reporting, compliance assurance activities, and remediation oversight across the Self-Insurance business. The role ensures the timely collection, validation and analysis of operational and compliance information to support regulator submissions, executive reporting and governance requirements.
 

The position provides oversight of regulatory obligations, action plans and remediation activities, ensuring the business maintains regulatory readiness, delivers accurate and transparent reporting, and demonstrates effective management of compliance risks and obligations. This role plays a critical part in strengthening governance, supporting audit and assurance activities, and enhancing regulator confidence through proactive monitoring and reporting.
 

Responsibilities and duties:
 

Claims Management

  • Coordinate the collection and validation of claims management data, compliance evidence and operational updates from stakeholders across the business.
  • Monitor claims-related remediation initiatives and regulatory commitments to ensure actions are progressing as planned.
  • Analyse claims performance, compliance outcomes and emerging trends to identify risks, control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the preparation of reports relating to claims management performance, statutory compliance and remediation activities.
  • Maintain oversight of evidence and documentation required to demonstrate compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations.
     

Customer Service

  • Support the delivery of transparent and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance performance and remediation progress.
  • Prepare reports and updates that clearly communicate compliance outcomes, business risks and improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure reporting accurately reflects customer, worker and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, responsiveness and continuous improvement across the business.

Risk and Compliance

  • Prepare and coordinate monthly regulator submissions, executive reports, governance packs and compliance status updates.
  • Track regulatory reporting obligations, audit actions, remediation plans and compliance commitments to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Monitor and report on compliance risks, audit findings, remediation progress and emerging regulatory issues.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of data and evidence to ensure reporting accuracy, completeness and consistency.
  • Support regulatory audits, assurance reviews and compliance assessments by coordinating information requests and evidentiary requirements.
  • Escalate compliance risks, overdue actions and regulatory concerns to relevant leaders and governance forums.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of reporting frameworks, assurance processes and governance controls that strengthen regulatory readiness.

Teamwork

  • Build effective working relationships with operational leaders, technical specialists, compliance, governance and support teams.
  • Coordinate cross-functional contributions to reporting, assurance and remediation activities.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on reporting requirements, evidence standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable culture focused on compliance, risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in business improvement initiatives that enhance reporting capability, governance maturity and operational effectiveness.

The skills you’ll be doing

To be successful in this role you should have:
Education:

  • A qualification or certification in a Business, Finance or related field (desirable).

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Analytical and detail orientated.
  • Effective organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet timeframes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret payroll data.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in compliance and legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in compliance, audit, assurance, governance, regulatory reporting, workers' compensation, insurance, financial services or a related regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing executive reports, regulator submissions, compliance reports and governance reporting.
  • Proven experience coordinating remediation programs, corrective action plans and regulatory obligations to successful completion.
  • Experience supporting internal audits, external audits, regulator reviews or assurance activities, including the coordination of evidence and stakeholder responses.
  • Experience analysing operational, compliance and performance data to identify risks, trends, root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience working within legislative, regulatory and policy frameworks, preferably within workers' compensation or insurance environments.
