LGT Wealth Management was formed around a clear and uncompromising vision – to bring global best practice in building institutional quality investment portfolios to Australian clients.

With a shared passion for building an uncompromised business – we created something new from the ground up. A chance to leave behind the things that weren’t working, while enhancing the things that were. Our authentic and personalised client-first commitment. Our entrepreneurial spirit. Our focus in best-in-class advice. And our intimate understanding of the Australian private wealth landscape.

In 2022 we became a part of the LGT Group, who shared our entrepreneurial spirit, long-term approach and private-ownership model. Today, with the global expertise, stability, and capability of LGT behind us, we can work without being reliant on markets or margins, with a singular focus on giving our clients the advice and deep expertise they need for generations to come.

Your role

Reporting to the Front Office Chief of Staff, you will support Front Office Management and partner closely with the Regional Manager, Investment Advisers, Associate Advisers, Associates and the Front Office Control & Monitoring team. As the first line of defence, you will oversee advice suitability, business conduct and regional Front Office risks, providing practical guidance, supervision and monitoring while operating independently of Risk and Compliance.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide effective oversight of Front Office business conduct, adviser and client activities, and advice suitability in the region in accordance with regulations, LGT directives, policies and guidelines.
  • Partner with Front Office Management, Operations, Line 2 and other regional risk managers to maintain strong supervision, governance and a practical risk-based control environment.
  • Perform and coordinate regular control checks, risk assessments, key control testing, file review support and monitoring of remediation or rectification actions.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, training and knowledge sharing to advisers and associates, including induction, Client Advice Process support, advice suitability guidance and targeted refresher training.
  • Review, challenge and approve business exceptions and pre-approvals where required, including advice pre-vetting, travel, pricing, cross-border, LGT access and other approval matters.
  • Maintain and oversee regional exception, incident and escalation processes, including reporting issues, errors, incidents, breaches or unusual activity to Front Office Management where appropriate.

About You

  • 8+ years’ compliance and control experience in wealth management and/or with regulators.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of local laws and regulations.
  • Good knowledge of compliance and control frameworks.
  • Experience overseeing advisory business functions, with a preference for Line 1 wealth advice experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Management or Finance.

LGT Wealth Management is committed to the ongoing development of their employees. Your development will be managed and tailored to your role and future career path.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
