IN A NUTSHELL

At Bellroy, our people are at the heart of our success. We’re looking for a Recruitment Director to lead and evolve our hiring strategy, ensuring we attract, hire, and retain great people who drive Bellroy’s growth and culture forward. You’ll oversee recruitment strategy and execution across the business, managing everything from sourcing and candidate experience to developing processes that work seamlessly across industries, levels, and regions.

This role requires someone who can confidently balance big-picture thinking with hands-on execution. You’ll think strategically about Bellroy’s long-term talent needs while diving into the details of sourcing, interviewing, and ensuring every hire is aligned with our culture and goals. You’ll take ownership of developing scalable, efficient recruitment processes that enable us to find exceptional talent while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to shifting needs.

You’ll work closely with leaders and hiring managers to align recruitment efforts with business objectives, train managers on hiring best practices, and ensure a consistent, thoughtful experience for every candidate. Your leadership will extend to mentoring a talented recruitment team, empowering them to deliver on ambitious hiring goals while growing their skills.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU...

  • Have 8+ years of recruitment experience, with a proven track record of hiring exceptional talent across all levels, including senior leadership roles
  • Bring experience mentoring others and a genuine passion for supporting their growth. (While direct management experience is preferred, we’re also open to applications from recruitment managers ready to take the next step or senior individual contributors looking to move into a leadership role)
  • Excel at sourcing talent through diverse channels, tailoring approaches to attract the best candidates for every role
  • Have expertise in building scalable recruitment processes that adapt to different industries, levels, and regions, ensuring consistency and flexibility
  • Understand how to match recruitment strategies with business goals, market trends, and talent needs to improve workforce planning
  • Are skilled at balancing thoughtful evaluation with compelling storytelling to ensure candidates feel valued and excited about joining Bellroy
  • Build trust and collaboration with candidates, hiring managers, and leadership, ensuring seamless communication and alignment
  • Are comfortable in ambiguity and enjoy making things clear for everyone involved, using your experience and judgment to create structure and direction
  • Are genuinely curious about how businesses operate and how the right talent can help them succeed.

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST WEEK, YOU MIGHT HAVE...

  • Conducted interviews for a few roles, tailoring your approach to assess cultural fit, technical expertise, and long-term potential, while reviewing applications to ensure only the most aligned candidates move forward.
  • Coached a direct report through a challenging sourcing task or a difficult conversation with a hiring manager, building their confidence and skills for future situations.
  • Partnered with the China Country Manager to refine regional hiring practices, ensuring alignment with global standards while adapting to local nuances.
  • Spoken with a candidate weighing multiple offers, highlighting Bellroy’s unique opportunities and helping them see how our culture and career pathways align with their goals.
  • Developed a targeted LinkedIn outreach strategy to engage passive candidates for a key role, crafting personalised messages to highlight Bellroy’s unique appeal.
  • Noticed inefficiencies in the recruitment process and drafted a proposal to streamline workflows, reducing time-to-hire and creating tailored, scalable processes that allow for growth.
  • Attended a networking event to connect with potential candidates and gain insights into broader industry trends that could refine Bellroy’s hiring strategy.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
