Product Security GRC
Product security engineers and analysts not only shape the security of the deliverable product but also the project as a whole. Security Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) is about providing a structured approach through appropriate project and product governance. Understanding the potential harm to the product and project through highlighting the perceived security risk and ensuring we comply with government, industry and customer standards throughout the engineering and product lifecycle. Working in this role you would be expected to:
  • Develop or support the development of required security documentation supporting the systems design, operation and authorisation.
  • Conduct simple through complex risk assessment, articulating key areas of concern and aligning mitigation and remediation with engineering risk appetite.
  • Ensure BDA products and systems are compliant with selected standards and frameworks
  • Lead and coordinate system authorisation activities on behalf of the product owner.

Product Security Engineering, Architecture and Design
Developing a secure product or capability begins before the platform or systems are built. A secure product needs to have all aspects of security considered from the initial concept through to delivery. When conducting a role within this specialty you would be expected to support the product through the full engineering lifecycle, you may be required to:
  • Define, lead or advise on suitable standards, controls and requirements to meet functional, operational and customer needs.
  • Create or apply security architectures of varying complexity.
  • Conduct or support the conduct of product-based threat modelling and technical risk assessment
  • Apply a systems thinking approach to the application of product security to existing and new systems
  • Support verification and validation activities to ensure the product is as intended.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to support the integration of modern security tooling and technology to current and legacy systems or environments

Secure System Operations
Secure system operations are essential to ensure products retain their competitive edge. At its core, ensuring all users have secure space to develop project related applications, documentation and design data. A role in this area may include:
  • Develop, support or implement security operations policy, procedures and activities
  • Participate in the evaluation of security control effectiveness
  • Participate in security related audits and assessments
  • Ensure the safe transit of data entering and exiting the BDA systems
  • Lead and coordinate the response actions to cyber security incidents impacting BDA systems or products

To be successful you will have some or all of the following:
  • Working knowledge of the DSPF, PSPF and ISM is essential. Familiarity with NIST, ISO and the application of maturity models is desirable
  • The ability to develop and implement information, system or cyber security practices in an engineering environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex security concepts to a broad and audience.
  • A desire to work as part of a dynamic team supporting a range of technology
  • Relevant industry recognised security qualifications (CISSP, CISM, ISO 270001, IRAP) and/or relevant experience
  • Relevant technical tertiary qualification is required for any role within the Engineering, Architecture and Design area.
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance - The preferred applicant will be required to successfully undergo the security clearance vetting process up to Negative Vetting Level 2. The preferred applicants MUST be willing to disclose all relevant and required information for this assessment.
