Overview

As Microsoft continues to lead the way in productivity innovation, Clipchamp is transforming how people create and share video content. Our mission is simple: to empower anyone to tell stories worth sharing. With nearly 100 million registered users worldwide, Clipchamp is a fast-growing platform operating at global scale within Microsoft.

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our team and help shape the next generation of intelligent, user-friendly video experiences. In this role, you will work on AI-assisted product capabilities that improve productivity and outcomes for customers.

You’ll join a nimble, cross-disciplinary team embedded within Microsoft, working closely with engineering, design and research partners. This is a role for someone who enjoys operating in ambiguity, defining AI-powered experiences and translating emerging technology into clear, valuable and shippable products.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realise our shared goals. Each day, we build on our values of respect, integrity and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Own and evolve a product roadmap, within the broader Clipchamp and Microsoft strategy, that delivers AI-assisted capabilities and user-facing improvements with a steady cadence of high-quality releases.

  • Translate ambiguous customer needs, product strategy and emerging AI capabilities into clearly scoped, shippable product increments; balancing craft, speed and impact while avoiding scope creep.

  • Define and uphold a high-quality bar for AI-powered experiences by applying best-practice evaluation approaches, including:

    • clear quality rubrics and acceptance criteria

    • evaluation suites (‘evals’) that measure output quality, reliability and safety signals

    • curated ‘golden sets’ to detect regressions and validate improvements over time

  • Partner closely with engineering, design and research to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences; bringing clarity, alignment and momentum while making thoughtful trade-offs between user control, simplicity and consistency.

  • Design for controllability in AI-assisted products, ensuring users can effectively steer outcomes through well-chosen controls, sensible defaults and understandable feedback loops (e.g. preview, refine and iterate).

  • Identify and shape new opportunities that expand what users can achieve with Clipchamp, turning early ideas into compelling product narratives with clear problem statements, MVP definitions and success criteria.

  • Use rapid learning loops, such as prototypes, experiments, customer insights and iterative testing to reduce uncertainty and convert learnings into clear product decisions.

  • Define success metrics and feedback mechanisms, monitor outcomes post-launch and drive continuous improvement based on user impact, quality signals and overall product health.

  • Influence across partner teams through strong communication and collaboration, aligning stakeholders, managing trade-offs and proactively unblocking delivery.

  • Contribute to evolving PM practices for AI-powered product development by applying rigorous evaluation thinking, practical experimentation and clear decision-making in ambiguous environments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building quality‑sensitive, user‑facing products where craft and “taste” matter.
  • Experience with video experiences or production.
  • Familiarity with AI‑powered product development, including prototyping, understanding model limitations and translating technical capability into user value.
  • Experience defining and applying quality frameworks that combine quantitative evaluation with qualitative review (e.g. rubrics, golden sets, regression checks).
  • Exposure to creative tools, media workflows or systems that balance flexibility with usability.
  • Experience partnering with research teams or working in highly ambiguous problem spaces to shape new product directions.
  • 3+ years of Product Management (or equivalent) experience shipping user‑facing products in a cross‑functional environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver tightly scoped features with a strong quality bar, balancing polish and practicality without scope creep.
  • Experience writing clear product requirements, defining success metrics and driving iteration from prototype to shipped experience.
  • Comfort working with technical concepts and learning complex systems quickly in order to make informed product trade‑offs.
  • Solid collaboration and stakeholder management skills across engineering, design and research partners.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build alignment and drive decisions in ambiguous spaces.
  • A collaborative mindset, you consider diverse perspectives, surface and resolve disagreements constructively and maintain strong empathy for users.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve personal and team productivity.

This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
