Business Banking (BB) offers a wide range of services and solutions to our small to medium, enterprise, regional and agribusiness customers. Everyday Business Banking (EBB) is a centre of excellence for innovation, development and capability within the Group, delivering transformative technology and products that support our business customers.

Within Everyday Business Banking, the Payment Acceptance domain enables merchants to accept payments securely and reliably across digital channels. The eCommerce crew is responsible for the online payments experience, including checkout, payment processing, reporting, integrations, and the services behind the scenes that support these transactions.

This is a 12-months Maximum Term opportunity for an external candidate, or a 12-months secondment opportunity for an internal candidate.

Do work that matters

This role will focus on existing capabilities, leading structured delivery across areas such as:

  • Merchant and customer migration

  • Uplift of core transaction processing capabilities

  • Infrastructure modernisation (e.g. AWS migration, PCI uplift, CI/CD improvements)

  • Reporting enhancements and operational improvements

  • Risk and control environment strengthening

Depending on final squad alignment, you may work across customer-facing initiatives, core processing uplift, or infrastructure/platform initiatives — all within a highly regulated eCommerce payments environment.

This is a delivery-focused role, with strong emphasis on governance, risk, stakeholder alignment and safe execution rather than product strategy.

As a Product Manager in the Payment Acceptance domain, you will:

  • Lead delivery of migration, uplift or modernisation initiatives across eCommerce payment capabilities

  • Define scope, sequencing and prioritisation of work aligned to business and customer outcomes

  • Drive risk identification and mitigation across regulatory, operational and customer-impact risks

  • Prepare and manage governance artefacts including change papers, risk memos, impact assessments and control documentation

  • Work across cross-functional squads including Technology, Risk, Operations and Customer teams

  • Ensure service continuity and operational stability during periods of change

  • Support engagement with high-transacting or priority merchants where required

  • Monitor post-implementation outcomes and drive continuous improvement

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • Experience leading complex change initiatives in payments, banking or regulated environments

  • Exposure to one or more of the following:

    • Merchant or customer migration

    • Core transaction processing uplift

    • Cloud/infrastructure modernisation (e.g. AWS)

    • PCI or regulatory compliance uplift

    • CI/CD or platform engineering improvements

  • Strong risk and governance capability, including preparation of formal change artefacts

  • Experience operating within agile or hybrid delivery environments

  • Strong stakeholder management skills across Product, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance and Operations

  • Confidence navigating ambiguity and driving delivery without heavy hand-holding

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Risk Mindset – All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.

If you're already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you'll need to apply through Sidekick to submit a valid application. We’re keen to support you with the next step in your career.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
