The opportunity

Downer's Energy and Utilities business is seeking a Procurement and Contracts Manager to lead strategic sourcing, procurement and subcontracting activities across large scale projects and bids. This is an opportunity to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, influence important commercial outcomes and contribute to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects

Please note we are open to receiving applications from candidates based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane – flexible working and WFH arrangements are supported.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and implement procurement and contracting strategies that support project and business objectives. 

• Partner with project, commercial, engineering and bid teams to identify opportunities and manage procurement risks. 

• Lead supplier and subcontractor engagement, tender processes and commercial negotiations. 

• Manage the procurement of complex subcontract packages, equipment and services. 

• Drive value through market insights, supplier relationships and innovative sourcing approaches. 

• Promote safe, sustainable and compliant procurement practices. 

What we're looking for

We're looking for a commercially minded procurement professional who enjoys working in a collaborative and fast paced environment. 

• Significant experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain or contracts management within infrastructure, utilities, energy, resources or construction. 

• Experience managing complex tenders, supplier relationships and commercial agreements. 

• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 

• The ability to influence outcomes and build trusted relationships across multidisciplinary teams. 

• A proactive, solutions focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities. 

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in procurement, supply chain, commerce, engineering, construction management or a related discipline.
