Principal System Performance Telemetry Architect
Do you want to shape the performance telemetry and profiling architecture behind the next generation of AI infrastructure, edge platforms, and physical AI systems?
In Arm's Central Technology Group, we are seeking a highly motivated Principal System Performance Telemetry Architect to join our diverse system architecture team!
This role is ideal for someone passionate about system performance, profiling, and hardware-software observability. You will architect how performance data is captured, correlated, and exposed across complex SoCs, enabling performance analysis, optimization, and silicon debug. Working with silicon, power, and SoC architects, performance analysis engineers, and software and tooling teams, you will help shape the performance observability capabilities of future Arm platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define system-level performance telemetry architecture, including hardware counters, events, metrics, traces, and data collection across CPUs, accelerators, memory, interconnects, I/O, and multi-die SoCs.
  • Drive architecture specifications and performance analysis methodologies for workload characterization, bottleneck identification, and system optimization across Arm-based cloud, edge, and physical AI platforms.
  • Architect mechanisms to collect, correlate, and expose performance telemetry across SoC components and hardware-software layers for performance analysis and debugging.
  • Collaborate with SoC architects, performance modeling and analysis engineers, and profiling teams to translate performance and debug needs into hardware telemetry requirements.
  • Provide architectural guidance to software, firmware, and tooling teams to enable effective use of hardware telemetry for profiling, software optimization, and platform deployment.
  • Support silicon bring-up, performance validation, and debug while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary architecture, hardware, and software teams.

Required Experience and Skills
  • Relevant experience in system architecture, performance engineering, performance analysis, profiling, or performance modeling for complex compute platforms.
  • Strong understanding of heterogeneous SoC architectures, including CPUs, accelerators, memory systems, interconnects, I/O, and multi-die systems.
  • Experience with hardware performance counters, events, traces, profiling infrastructure, or system-level observability, and the ability to translate performance analysis needs into telemetry requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with profiling tools such as NVIDIA Nsight, Intel VTune, Linux perf, Arm Streamline, Arm Performance Studio, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong understanding of performance analysis methodologies, including workload characterization, bottleneck identification, latency and bandwidth analysis, and power-performance optimization.
  • Understanding of how hardware telemetry is exposed and consumed across firmware, operating systems, virtualization layers, runtimes, and developer tools.
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams, with strong communication and technical leadership skills.

Nice To Have
  • Experience with silicon bring-up, performance validation, debug, or hardware-software performance correlation.
  • Experience with cloud-scale performance observability, capacity planning, workload placement, or infrastructure optimization.
  • Understanding of platform power management, thermal behavior, RAS, and their impact on performance.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
