The Opportunity 

We now have a critical opportunity for a Principal Sustainability Consultant to join our National Sustainability team based in Melbourne. In this  role, you’ll lead sustainability input, advice, and expertise across major infrastructure projects—including water, rail, and road—as well as global Net Zero initiatives and defence projects. 

You’ll work closely with project teams to embed sustainability strategies from design through construction, delivering frameworks, management plans, and innovative solutions that leave a lasting legacy. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Lead sustainability strategies and provide technical advice on complex, large-scale projects.  

  • Drive adoption of sustainability initiatives during design and construction phases.  

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver positive environmental and community outcomes. 

  • Manage project planning, cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, and client reporting. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, authorities, and internal stakeholders. 

  • Carbon baselining, lifecycle cost analysis, carbon assessment, innovative material selection 

  • Contribute to business development through proposals, budgets, and stakeholder engagement. 

 

 Who You Are 

You’re a seasoned sustainability professional with a proven track record in infrastructure projects. You thrive on collaboration, leadership, and innovation, and you’re motivated by sourcing new projects and talking to clients. You bring integrity, accountability, and strong communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and deliver results. 

What You Bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental engineering, or similar. 

  • Experience in sustainability consulting within the infrastructure sector (water industry highly regarded). 

  • Familiarity with Green Star or ISC rating tools (highly regarded). 

  • Strong stakeholder management and business development experience. 

  • Ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and deadlines.
