Job Description

We are seeking a Principal Process Engineer to join our growing Integrated Water Planning team in Melbourne. In this role, you will provide technical expertise and leadership in the delivery of projects designing, planning, and managing water and wastewater treatment plants to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery for clients across nationally and internationally. Your work will include master planning, options assessments, feasibility studies, and business case preparation, while supporting the growth of the team through active business development.

You will be responsible for

  • Lead and provide technical direction on complex water, wastewater and recycled water projects from strategic planning through to functional design.
  • Supervise and coordinate project teams to meet objectives and client expectations.
  • Prepare proposals for opportunities, building on our and your existing relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on water infrastructure projects.
  • Facilitate client and stakeholder workshops.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior staff.

Qualifications

What we are looking for

Ideally, you are a recognised industry professional with 10+ years of experience in a similar role within a consultancy environment with a strong background in water treatment. In addition, you will also have:

  • Tertiary degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Chartered Status (CPEng, RPEQ/V) highly desired
  • Demonstrated experience in water treatment and wastewater industry
  • Established profile within industry associations e.g. Active involvement in shaping the industry
  • A thorough understanding of general chemical engineering and detailed design principles
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in the leadership in the assessment and strategic planning of water and wastewater treatment plans to manage growth, compliance, network performance, and renewals.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects of varying size and complexity, ensuring scope, schedule, and quality objectives are consistently achieved
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong organisation and problem-solving skills
  • A good attitude to mentoring junior engineers
