A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Portfolio Planning Manager reporting to the Executive Manager Portfolio Governance and Analysis.

A bit about your role

As a Portfolio Planning Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our delivery portfolio by developing and maintaining a rolling 6–18 month roadmap for key Value Streams. Your work ensures the right business outcomes are achieved at the right time, aligned with allocated budgets and stakeholder plans. You will prepare teams for PI cycles by sequencing work and determining business outcomes at the Portfolio Epic and Capability level. This role requires strong engagement with multiple business partners, architecture, delivery teams, and other SEO teams to manage dependencies, streamline work, and maintain a stable backlog for delivery teams and engineering engines. Acting as a first line of defence, you will identify and escalate risks, influence prioritisation decisions, and introduce flexibility for ad-hoc activities.

A bit about you

If this sounds like the role for you, it’s likely that you have experience in portfolio planning and roadmap development within a complex delivery environment, combined with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. You are confident in managing dependencies and risks across multiple initiatives and have a solid understanding of Agile practices and PI planning cycles. Your technical knowledge enables you to support prioritisation and sequencing decisions effectively.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
