Role Overview and Objectives

The Payroll Associate is responsible for supporting the timely and accurate delivery of the payroll function.

Role Responsibilities

The Payroll Associate is responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Processing payroll for Datacom employees on the agreed basis, accurately and within a timely manner.
  • Update payroll information.
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and managing enquiries.
  • Being actively involved in continuous improvement and innovation initiatives. Supporting with the preparation of standard and ad hoc reports.
  • Resolving payment errors in a timely manner.
  • Providing accurate and timely advice to management and staff, and are kept up to date with legislation, policy and system changes.
  • Help support the identification of process improvements, needs and priorities. Being actively involved in continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
  • Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy.
Requirements

Knowledge

  • Understand relevant legislation and if applicable, award expectations, Associated taxation and superannuation legislation compliance requirements and conditions of employment.
  • Understanding of the core principles of payroll end to end processes.
  • Understanding of company business requirements.
  • Knowledge of various payroll software/methodologies.
  • Strong business acumen.

Experience

  • 2+ years of payroll experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively administering payroll.
  • Demonstrated experience in relevant employment and if applicable, award interpretation

Skills

  • Strong Excel knowledge
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ability to frequently interact with a variety of stakeholders and team members.
  • Strong numeracy skills. Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to convey information across various levels.
  • Strong communication skills with excellent writing ability and attention to detail.
