About You

Are you a strategic partnership builder who knows the community and social services, workforce development and government landscapes? In this role, you will help WIDI strengthen and sustain its relationships across government, industry and community organisations so RMIT is better positioned to respond to emerging sector challenges and future tender opportunities.

You will work with WIDI capability leads, RMIT colleagues and external partners to identify shared problems, translate sector intelligence into practical opportunities, and support collaborative tender and project responses. This is a relationship-led role for someone who can build trust, read the sector, bring the right people together and shape solutions that create long-term workforce, organisational and social impact.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Proven success developing strategic partnerships, funded initiatives, service agreements or commercial opportunities in the community, social services, government or workforce development sectors, with senior-level autonomy.

  • Strong relationship-building skills, including the ability to establish trusted relationships with executive-level leaders across government, community services, not-for-profit organisations and industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate new opportunities and build partnership, contract, grant or strategic initiative pipelines that create impact, value and sustainable outcomes.

  • Deep understanding of the community and social services sector, including workforce challenges, policy settings, funding models, procurement or tendering processes and key stakeholder ecosystems.

Ability to interpret sector trends and strategic priorities, then translate them into practical partnership opportunities, collaborative initiatives and business development outcomes.

  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation capability, with the confidence to work independently across complex organisational environments and manage multiple priorities.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
