Department OverviewMotorola Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer (5+ years’ experience) to join the National Platform Engineering team and provide end-to-end network design, integration, support and troubleshooting for mission-critical solutions across cloud and on-prem environments. You will own the network stack for key platforms, configuring and managing routers, switches and firewalls, optimising IP networks and security, and using automation and scripting to improve reliability and efficiency. The role combines deep hands-on engineering with clear documentation, proactive customer engagement and full ownership of issue resolution across Motorola’s mission-critical systems in ANZ.
Job Description
Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the existing IP network (firewalls, routers, switches) remotely and on-site across Motorola’s product portfolio and customer contracts.
Make configuration changes on network devices as required (Juniper/Cisco/Fortigate)
Work with the project teams for any new network deployments
Perform upgrades on network devices (remote/onsite) and assist with network designs
Prepare diagrams and as built documentation
Interact with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
Solve complex design and application problems that affect the data flow between applications and user devices

Work alongside with senior technical engineers as an escalation point for the Network
Operations Control Centre (NOCC) staff or Field Engineers when necessary
Perform other adhoc IT related tasks including cabling and installation of devices/servers
Follow work instructions, procedures and policies
Develop, implement and maintain procedures to measure and track service performance/quality
Log Change requests and incidents as requested in Remedy Service Desk
Adhoc interstate travel as required to support other managed services networks
Provide after hours support to troubleshoot networks
Basic Requirements
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related engineering field.
Highly Desirable:
ITIL Foundation v4 certification
Juniper JNCIP or similar experience
Working knowledge of Palo Alto and Juniper SRX Firewalls
Desirable:
Additional qualifications (or significant industry experience) with regard to:
Any Security certifications
Network design, implementation, troubleshooting experience including LANs/WANs,
VPNs, Juniper SRXs, Palo Alto Firewalls and Catalyst 9K series
Any VMWare/LINUX certifications
Network Security skills including IDS, IPS and SIEMs
Professional Experience
Required:
5+ years of hands-on experience with Juniper SRX, Palo Alto and Cisco in a mission-critical environment
Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks
Knowledge of FortiGate Firewalls
Knowledge Cisco Catalyst 8K and 9K series
Working knowledge of Routing protocols, switching and Tunnelling technologies (OSPF/BGP/IPSec/RSTP)
Understanding of MPLS technologies
Demonstrated understanding of firewall concepts and operation
Administration configuration, fault finding and maintenance of networks, LAN, WAN, routers, switches, servers, workstations and applications
Virtualization knowledge
Proven experience with customer engagement at a technical level, including troubleshooting discussions, solution delivery, and stakeholder communication.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Effective time management skills.
Ability to prioritise, multitask and meet deadlines.
Strong ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Willingness to travel across ANZ.
Australian Citizen with eligibility to obtain baseline and NV1 security clearance (mandatory).
