Company Description

Healthcare Australia (HCA) is Australia's largest specialist healthcare workforce provider.  We provide services including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.

Job Description

At HCA Doctors, we are proud to support Australia’s healthcare system through our long-standing expertise and trusted Medic Oncall and Locum Life brands. We partner with leading hospitals, health services and medical groups nationwide, ensuring doctors have access to rewarding and meaningful opportunities across the country.

We’re looking for a National Operations Manager to take the lead across the day-to-day operations of our doctors business unit—driving operational excellence, commercial performance and a highly engaged clinical workforce.

In this role, you’ll turn strategy into action, build a culture of accountability and collaboration, and ensure our teams, clients and doctors receive efficient, compliant and future-focused service at every step.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, mentor and develop the operational and clinical team, building a cohesive and effective work environment.
  • Oversee full P&L ownership, driving financial performance, reporting and commercial growth opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver strategic and operational plans using data-driven insights to improve service delivery.
  • Lead recruitment and engagement strategies to attract, retain and optimise our clinical workforce.
  • Build strong client relationships while ensuring all services meet contractual, legislative and compliance standards.
  • Drive operational efficiency through process improvement, system optimisation and cross-functional collaboration.

Let’s talk about you

You’ll bring direct healthcare operating experience and a proven track record leading high-performing teams.

You’re commercially confident, analytically strong, and capable of owning full P&L accountability. You have some exposure to clinical recruitment, including supporting the attraction, retention, and engagement of doctors, but this experience complements rather than replaces your strong financial and operational expertise.

You approach work holistically, integrating people, processes, and insights to support strong business outcomes. Your curiosity and critical thinking help you refine how things are done, always maintaining a seamless experience for doctors from recruitment through placement.

What’s in it for you?

  • Birthday Leave – enjoy your paid special day off to celebrate however you choose!
  • Flexible work options, with up to 2 days per week working from home for eligible office-based roles.
  • Join a respected national organisation of more than 3,000 employees, supporting healthcare across Australia.
  • Be part of a purposeful business where your leadership directly impacts patient care and community outcomes.

If you have any questions, please contact Carly Currie at [email protected].

Veterans are encouraged to apply. At HCA, we celebrate diversity and are committed to providing a safe, inclusive workplace for all.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
