About the Role

As part of BDO’s continued growth in our Risk Advisory – Internal Audit capability, we are seeking a Manager or Senior Manager to join our Brisbane team.

This role focuses on delivering strategic, value‑adding internal audit and risk advisory engagements, supporting organisations to strengthen governance, decision‑making and performance.

You will work across internal audit programs, strategic reviews and targeted risk advisory engagements, helping clients move beyond compliance to gain practical insight over their most critical risks.

The role suits someone who enjoys working on complex risk and assurance matters and contributing to how internal audit delivers value.

About the service line/team

BDO’s Risk Advisory team supports organisations to manage risk in a practical and proportionate way.

Our Internal Audit capability delivers risk‑based internal audit and advisory services across a range of co‑sourced and outsourced models. The team works closely with specialists across BDO’s broader Advisory practice, including forensics, cyber, finance advisory and people consulting.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver risk‑based internal audit engagements across strategy, governance, major programs, technology, data, financial sustainability and emerging risks
  • Develop internal audit plans as well as individual review scopes, deliver and reporting
  • Develop and deliver risk‑based internal audit plans aligned to organisational strategy
  • Provide clear, practical insights and recommendations through internal audit engagements
  • Support adjacent advisory engagements such as governance reviews, risk frameworks and assurance over major initiatives
  • Coach and develop team members and contribute to high‑quality client delivery
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Support business development activities, proposals and thought leadership initiatives

About you

  • Experience delivering internal audit or risk advisory engagements within a professional services environment
  • Experience across a range of risk-based internal audit delivery, including value-adding reviews and recommendations
  • Passionate about developing people and building high‑performing teams
  • Professional certification (CIA, CA or CPA) is highly regarded
