We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Manager Media and External Communications. This role will report to the Senior Manager Media & External Communications.

A bit about your role

As Manager Media and External Communications, you will develop and deliver media and communications strategies that support nbn’s strategic objectives, shaping and protecting its reputation through strategic media engagement and impactful communications. You will drive proactive media opportunities, shape compelling stories from complex information, and provide trusted communications advice to senior leaders across a range of initiatives and issues.

Working across some of the organisation’s most high-profile initiatives, you will develop compelling stories from complex, technical and policy-driven information and help leaders communicate with clarity and credibility. You will also support media engagement, journalist briefings, executive communications, and issue management, ensuring communications are clear, accurate and aligned to organisational priorities.

A bit about you

You bring significant experience in media relations, journalism or external communications, with a proven ability to develop communications strategies, build strong media relationships, and deliver impactful storytelling. You are an exceptional communicator who can translate complex information into engaging content and provide sound strategic advice in both proactive and reactive situations.

You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable navigating ambiguity, competing priorities and emerging issues. Experience managing proactive and reactive communications, particularly within regional Australia or highly regulated industries, will be highly regarded. Above all, you are collaborative, adaptable and purpose-driven, with a passion for delivering communications that inform, influence and build trust.
