  • Lead AFCA's month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Oversee statutory compliance obligations, including BAS and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, provisions, and cashflow reporting.
  • Prepare insightful management, executive, and Board reporting, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Partner with leaders across the organisation to provide accurate financial information and support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and develop the Finance Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning activities.
  • Act as a key technical accounting subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with external auditors and key stakeholders to deliver successful audit outcomes.
  • Contribute to finance transformation initiatives and future-state process improvements.

Qualifications

About you

You'll be an experienced financial accounting leader who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional stakeholder management skills.

You'll bring:

  • CA or CPA qualifications and relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in senior financial accounting roles, ideally gained within a Big 4 environment or a complex corporate organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, financial reporting, taxation, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading financial close processes, statutory reporting, and audit management.
  • Proven leadership capability with experience building, coaching, and developing teams.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Experience using large ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, or Oracle.
  • The ability to translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights for a broad range of stakeholders.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and passion for driving better ways of working

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
