The opportunity

We are looking for a talented individual to join our Compliance team in QBE AUSPAC in a role of a Manager, Compliance Beaches to provide strategic compliance support to our business. In this role you will be an integral part of the compliance team, influencing the compliance culture at QBE by working directly with the first line of defense. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to undertake assessments of breaches of law, whilst managing compliance activities.

Your new role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of breaches being appropriately identified, investigated, and reported and ensure timely corrective action is taken when breaches are detected

  • Identify all appropriate external regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to financial services and apply or implement as relevant to facilitate compliance of breach reporting obligations

  • Take ownership and leadership to successfully implement change in compliance related matters

  • Oversight of local compliance requirements, policies, and internal guidelines

  • Delivering elements of the compliance strategy and plan and supporting Senior Managers Compliance Breaches to achieve positive results for the business in line with strategy and business plans.

  • Proactively inputting to the strategy for the AUSPAC compliance Risk team, performing and completing sufficient planning of assigned objectives to ensure appropriate risk management and coordinated approach for initiatives;

  • Providing compliance advice to ensure QBE meets it’s compliance and conduct obligations;

  • Proactively managing QBE’s regulatory risk by providing advice that is consistent with regulator and ombudsman expectations

About You

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for building relationships with senior stakeholders

  • Effective time management to meet deadlines

  • Strong influencing skills and passion for breach advising

  • Strong regulatory understanding and ability to form insights

  • Strong experience in compliance or risk management within financial services or general insurance

  • Strong communication skills, ability to work remotely with cross-functional teams, and relevant qualifications in business, commerce, or equivalent
