The General Accounting Manager – Accounting to Reporting (ATR) leads end-to-end general accounting and financial close activities for assigned entities, markets, or business units. The role is accountable for timely and accurate financial reporting, strong balance-sheet governance, compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies, and effective execution of internal controls. The Manager partners with regional Finance, business stakeholders, auditors, and other GBS teams to resolve complex accounting matters, improve service delivery, and drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across ATR processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting, Close & Financial Reporting
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for assigned entities, ensuring completion in line with the global close calendar, service commitments, and quality standards.
• Oversee general ledger activities including journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, allocations, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, bank accounting, and other period-end transactions.
• Review financial results, account movements, and significant variances; ensure unusual or high-risk items are investigated, supported, and resolved on a timely basis.
• Ensure financial statements and reporting packages are complete, accurate, and prepared in accordance with IFRS, local statutory requirements where applicable, and company accounting policies.
Balance Sheet Governance & Reconciliations
• Own the quality and timeliness of balance sheet reconciliations, account certifications, and supporting documentation across the assigned scope.
• Monitor aged, unreconciled, unsupported, or unusual balances and drive corrective actions with clear owners and due dates.
• Review and approve accounting entries and reconciliation outputs in accordance with established approval matrices and governance requirements.
• Use close and reconciliation tools, including BlackLine or equivalent platforms, to reinforce close discipline, transparency, and accountability.
Controls, Compliance & Audit
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure accounting activities are performed in accordance with company policies, control frameworks, and audit requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by providing timely, complete, and well-supported documentation, analyses, and explanations.
• Identify control gaps, recurring exceptions, or process risks and coordinate remediation plans with relevant process owners and stakeholders.
• Ensure procedures, desktop instructions, and process documentation remain current and reflect approved process changes.
Stakeholder & Service Delivery Management
• Serve as a primary point of contact for Finance stakeholders on ATR service delivery, accounting issues, close status, and financial reporting matters.
• Manage service performance against agreed SLAs/KPIs and communicate risks, dependencies, and recovery actions proactively.
• Partner with regional Finance, Controllership, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other GBS teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
• Build effective working relationships across countries, functions, and time zones while maintaining clear accountability for deliverables.
Continuous Improvement & Transformation
• Drive standardization, simplification, and automation opportunities across general accounting and close processes.
• Use root-cause analysis and operational data to reduce recurring errors, manual effort, close-cycle delays, and control exceptions.
• Support finance transformation initiatives, system implementations, migrations, and transition activities as required.
• Promote consistent use of global process standards, technology, and leading practices across the ATR organization.
People Leadership & Capability Development
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals, establishing clear expectations for performance, quality, ownership, and professional conduct.
• Manage workload, capacity, succession, cross-training, and knowledge transfer to maintain operational resilience and effective coverage.
• Provide timely performance feedback, support individual development plans, and strengthen technical and leadership capabilities within the team.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and constructive challenge.
