OVERVIEW

Love games? Love languages? As a Localization QA Analyst, you’ll be the first to experience our worlds in your native language and help make sure players everywhere enjoy the same high-quality adventure. Your mission is to safeguard the accuracy, style, and cultural authenticity of our localized content, spotting everything from typos and mistranslations to UI hiccups and cultural mismatches.

You’ll execute test plans on pre-release versions of our games, logging and tracking issues, and sometimes even providing direct fixes. Along the way, you’ll collaborate with Localization Leads, QA teammates, and developers to ensure every detail—from menus to dialogue—shines. This is an entry point into both the games and localization industries, perfect for detail-oriented problem solvers who want to help shape unforgettable global experiences.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute test passes on localized builds for linguistic, functional, and visual accuracy
  • Identify, log, and track issues in the bug database with clear, detailed reproduction steps
  • Verify grammar, spelling, consistency, truncation, variable usage, and cultural appropriateness across all localized content
  • Provide correct translations to objective mistakes directly into CAT tools as necessary
  • Assist in the creation of test cases and test plans based on game design documentation and specifications
  • Support LQA leads by participating in design and implementation reviews to provide LQA perspective
  • Generate and contribute to daily test reports under supervision, highlighting risks and key issues
  • Regress fixed bugs, verify compliance with first party platform terminology/standards, and validate first-party submission readiness
  • Investigate and reproduce reported issues from players or internal stakeholders
  • Stay up to date on project issues, serving as a go-to resource for leadership on language-specific concerns
  • Review and approve supporting documentation and marketing materials as necessary

 

SKILLS

  • Native fluency in Japanese
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of localization workflows and QA processes, including bug writing and defect tracking
    Familiarity with bug databases (e.g., JIRA), test management tools, and version control systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Outlook
  • Technical proficiency with PCs, gaming consoles, and related hardware
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work effectively under strict time constraints and shifting priorities
  • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable asking questions in a fast-paced environment

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in localization QA, functional QA, or translation (professional or academic).
  • Previous translation or linguistic QA experience is a plus.
  • Experience with CAT tools or familiarity with string localization is desirable.
  • Expected time in role before promotion: 1–2 years.
