We are seeking a motivated and experienced Warehouse Leading Hand to join our team in Cairns QLD. You will play a key role in coordinating daily warehouse operations, supporting team members, and ensuring the efficient movement of parts and materials. You will lead by example, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity while delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

This is a permanent, Monday to Friday role, offering long-term stability and a supportive, team-focused culture.

What you’ll be doing
As a Warehouse Leading Hand at Hastings Deering, you will:

  • Lead and support the team – oversee daily warehouse operations, providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate freight movements – manage inbound and outbound logistics to maintain smooth and timely delivery of goods.
  • Keep operations running smoothly – supervise picking, packing, dispatch, and receiving to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain stock accuracy – implement and uphold strong inventory control practices to ensure reliable stock management.
  • Champion safety standards – promote a positive safety culture and ensure all activities are carried out in line with WHS requirements.
  • Plan and prioritise work – assist with workforce planning and allocate tasks effectively to meet operational demands.
  • Maintain a high standard environment – ensure warehouse housekeeping and presentation standards are consistently met.
  • Drive continuous improvement – identify opportunities to enhance processes and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships – develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

What you’ll need:  

A successful teammate will have experience in: 

  • Bring relevant experience – demonstrate a background in warehouse, logistics, or parts environments with a strong understanding of operations.
  • Lead with confidence – apply proven leadership or supervisory experience to guide and support team performance.
  • Stay organised and communicate clearly – use strong organisational and communication skills to coordinate tasks and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Focus on quality and safety – maintain a high attention to detail while prioritising safe work practices at all times.
  • Use systems effectively – confidently operate warehouse management systems and general computer applications to support daily activities.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment – work collaboratively within a team to meet deadlines and achieve operational goals.
  • Licenses a plus – overhead crane and forklift tickets are desirable (training opportunities may be available).
