Take the next step in your career with Hastings Deering. We’re looking for trade‑qualified Fitters to join our Liberty Street Cairns team, the largest CRG centre in Far North Queensland. Join a high‑performing team and enjoy permanent Monday to Thursday roster positions.
What you’ll be doing
As a Diesel Fitter at Hastings Deering, you will:
- Rebuild with precision – complete effective rebuild, repair and maintenance of Caterpillar equipment componentry to OEM standards.
- Work efficiently and productively – deliver repairs and overhauls safely and within required timeframes to maximise productivity.
- Inspect with attention to detail – conduct thorough inspections of all disassembled components to determine reusability in line with specified guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation – complete detailed reports and associated paperwork to support all rebuild and repair activities.
- Keep standards high – ensure cleanliness, quality and presentation meet the highest standards at all times.
- Perform to plan – work efficiently to a structured schedule of daily overhaul requirements.
- Put safety first – actively promote and operate in a safe manner in every task and work activity.

What you’ll need:
A successful teammate will have experience in:
- Bring the right technical foundation – hold a relevant trade qualification with demonstrated post‑trade component rebuild experience.
- Use technology to work smarter – confidently use computers and service systems, with SIS experience desirable but not essential.
- Put safety first, always – show a strong, consistent commitment to maintaining the highest standards of workplace health and safety.
- Work well independently and in a team – collaborate effectively with others while also managing tasks unsupervised when required.
