About the role:

As a Lead Developer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining key components of the Bunnings website within a cross-functional team environment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team focused on enhancing existing products and delivering new projects that support our digital experience.

You will be a key conduit between Delivery Leads, Tech Lead, Product Managers and your Development Team to lead the problem solving and implementation of a solution. You will be a champion agile software development practices such as test-driven development, continuous delivery and pair programming.

• Design, code, test and deploy features on the digital platform
• Support the implementation of the platform's technology strategy
• Contribute to a maintainable, high quality, and performant codebase
• Implement new features in a highly collaborative environment with product managers and engineers
• Working in an agile team, where iterative experimentation and data driven decisions with product and UX is valued
• Effectively communicate your technical solutions and product ideas with the team
• Mentor other engineering team members

Who we’re looking for

You will be a detail oriented, outcome driven problem solver who is well versed with working within agile environments. As a passionate technologist you are all about knowledge sharing and upskilling and possess excellent collaboration, communication and leadership skills. 

• Extensive hands-on experience (ideally a minimum of 5 years experience) in modern JS frameworks
• Expertise in React, TypeScript, GraphQL and Node.js
• Strong understanding of front-end architecture and modern development practice
• Experience integrating and consuming RESTful APIs
• Ability to drive technical decision-making, considering scalability, maintainability, and performance
• Successful track record in coaching and mentoring engineers
• Experience with testing new and existing features through both manual and automated methods
• Experience in applying and improving CI/CD practices
• Excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices (e.g., agile software development, continuous deployment, behaviour-driven development, code review, design documentation, infrastructure as code).
• Good knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., Docker, Vagrant).
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Exposure to Java or .Net backend development is beneficial
• Any experience working with online Marketplaces in a retail environment would be highly advantageous
