Job Description

The Role Ready to take the lead on the main stage? NCS Australia is looking for a hands-on iOS Tech Lead to guide one of our high-performing squads. In this role, you aren’t just a coder—you are the Consulting Rockstar representing NCS to our clients. You’ll be the technical voice in the room, partnering with major government and enterprise organisations to turn their requirements into polished, high-performance apps.

We don’t need a rebel without a cause; we need a Trusted Advisor. You will work side-by-side with our clients to Make tomorrow together, blending your deep technical expertise with the diplomacy to navigate complex stakeholder environments. You’ll lead the dev team, set the coding standards, and ensure every release hits the right notes.

Your Mission You will be the "Lead Guitarist" for a specific client engagement. You’ll be writing code, architecting solutions, and unblocking your team, all while keeping the client happy and the project on track. You’ll take the complex technical requirements and translate them into a roadmap that your squad can execute with precision.

Qualifications

  • The Consultant Mindset: You are client-facing and confident. You can explain complex iOS architectural decisions to non-technical stakeholders without breaking a sweat. You know how to build trust and manage expectations in a professional services environment. 🤝

  • Squad Leadership: You’ve successfully led a team of developers on specific projects. You know how to run a code review, unblock a junior dev, and keep the sprint moving. You aren't managing the whole practice, but you own your squad's delivery. 🏃‍♂️

  • Enterprise Experience (Non-Negotiable): You have a proven track record delivering apps in large-scale enterprise environments. You understand security protocols, legacy system integration, and the rigour required for mission-critical apps. 🏢

  • iOS Virtuoso: You are hands-on and code every day. You have expert command of Swift (and know enough Objective-C to deal with history). You build scalable architectures (MVVM, Clean Architecture) that are easy for your team to maintain. 🛠️

  • Delivery Focused: You understand that code is only good if it ships. You are experienced with Agile/Scrum and know how to balance technical perfection with project deadlines. 🏁

  • Quality Control: You set the bar for the team. You ensure Unit Tests (XCTest) and UI Tests are part of the daily rhythm, and you champion CI/CD automation (Jenkins/Bitrise) to keep deployments smooth. 🤖

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
