Barings Real Estate Australia is seeking an outstanding candidate to join the Investments Team function as an Investment Analyst. This role reports to the Co-Heads of Investments Team and is responsible for both financial modelling, property analysis and detailed report writing. The individual will have direct access to transactions across a range of property sectors and risk profiles plus exposure to portfolio, asset, and development management functions.

A successful candidate for the role will have a desire to succeed in the property investment analytics field and have the capability to work in a dynamic team environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders. The role has long-term opportunities for progression and development within the organisation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Acquisition and investment analysis including running detailed acquisition feasibilities and financial models, and contribute to the preparation of acquisition investment proposals and divestment papers.
  • Support the Portfolio Management, Development Management and Asset Management teams, assist in reporting including portfolio analytics and fund modelling, and contribute to the preparation of project control group reports, quarterly investor reports and presentations and respond to investor requests.
  • Assist with the annual business planning / budget process.
  • Assist with implementing ESG initiatives including as part of the acquisition process and reporting.
  • Ad hoc economic, property and market research to support new acquisitions and investment proposals / ideas.
  • Assist with the acquisition pipeline process.

Qualifications

  • Either a recent graduate or up to 3 years of commercial real estate investment analysis or valuation experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a real estate, finance, business, or mathematics emphasis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical background combined with strong verbal and written communication skills with a willingness to learn.
  • Keen attention to detail, high level of integrity and professionalism and pride in quality of work.
  • Highly organised, ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks while managing to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and take ownership of tasks while still functioning well in a team.
  • Develop strong and effective relationships both internally and externally.
