Job Description - Software Engineer  

Title  Software Engineer 

Reports to  Solutions Engineering (For Practice and Professional standards and Career Development) 

Assignment Manager as assigned (For assignment/project tasks and delivery) 

Job summary 

This position is responsible for designing, analyzing, writing code, modifying, and debugging CSG product applications.  Additional duties include performing release testing, interfacing with end-user to define requirements and completing technical documentation.  May assist with on-site client issues and partnering with team members to complete complex software development assignments.

What you'll do  

  • You will report to Manager Software Development to develop the software in accordance with the agreed requirements. 

  • You will work with work with Business Analysts and customers to interpret requirements and remove ambiguity over requirements. 

  • You will develop unit tests for the software that meets the approved low-level design. Execute the tests, record deficiencies, and remediate as required. 

  • You will develop implementation scripts and deploy developed software into test and production requirements as required. 

  • You will participate in team meetings and actively contribute to designs, issues, risks, interdependencies, and other items under discussion. Mentor colleagues in particular areas of expertise. 

  • You will turn intrinsic knowledge into extrinsic knowledge by actively contributing to knowledge capture systems such as the internal Wiki and document management systems. Conduct team training sessions to both gain and deliver knowledge and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering or equivalent experience and expertise in the Telecommunications Provisioning and Assurance domains. 

  • Proficiency in English in a business environment 

  • 3+ years software development experience with modern Java SE (8+) 

  • Completely at home in a Linux/MacOS/Docker development environment 

  • Skills in SQL, PostgreSQL, and/or MyBatis, Apache Kafka, GraphQL, and REST API frameworks 

  • Knowledge in Business Process Management and Rules libraries (Camunda, Activiti, Drools, etc.) 

  • Experience in a development, packaging, and release toolchain (Github, Maven, Kubernetes etc.)
