The Fund Accountant role at FNZ is dedicated to managing and maintaining accurate financial records for a range of superannuation funds administered by the company. Working closely within the Fund Services team, this position ensures that records are kept in line with the financial and regulatory requirements expected by trustees, clients, and Financial Services Regulators. Primary responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day record keeping, processing accounts payable, managing expenses, and providing detailed reporting on fund budgets and operations to trustees. The role also involves supporting the annual audit process and contributing to statutory financial reporting.

The Fund Accounting team supports variety of clients, including managed investment schemes and retail and industry superannuation funds, by handling accounting, taxation, and investment records that enable clear oversight and facilitate external reporting. In addition to statutory and regulatory tasks, this role involves preparing APRA quarterly and annual D2A & SDT reports and ensuring timely tax reporting, such as IAS, BAS, and income tax returns. The Fund Accountant role works collaboratively with both internal teams and external clients to address operational matters effectively.

The responsibilities will include:  

  • Record keeping – including reconciling records with external providers

  • Accounts payable – including ensuring the accuracy of invoices received

  • Expense and reserve management – including management reports on budgets and operations

  • Statutory financial reporting – including assisting in the annual audit

  • APRA regulatory reporting – both annual and quarterly D2A & SDT reports

  • Tax reporting – including IAS, BAS, and income tax returns 

  • Stakeholder management – including communicating with our internal and external clients on operational matters

What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate? 

  • Primary requirements

  • Min 1-3 years of proven experience as a Fund Accountant

  • Experience in preparing APRA quarterly and annual returns

  • Experience in preparing Statutory Financial Reports

Relevant technical experience (helpful but not essential)

  • Knowledge of financial products and securities

  • Knowledge of tax in superannuation

  • Experience in superannuation wrap funds

  • Exposure to successor fund transfers

  • SQL and database management skills
