The purpose of the Fund accountant is to assist in the preparation of funds’ financial accounts and financial activities for delivery to statutory bodies, in compliance with legal, professional and ethical standards. This will be done by maintaining the integrity of fund accounting records by ensuring all financial transactions are accurate and completed in a timely manner.

Some of the awesome things you’ll be involved with:

  • Reconciliation of bank accounts

  • Reconciliation of superannuation fund investment holdings

  • Reviewing and paying fees and premiums

  • Reconciliation of all general ledger accounts

  • Preparing statutory financial reports, including planning and liaising with auditors

  • Management of daily unit prices and reconciliation of unit holdings with custodian

  • Preparation of Business Activity Statements

  • Preparation of APRA reporting both quarterly and annual

  • Preparing trustee reports and compliance reporting

  • Ensuring client service standards are met

  • Examine current processes and recommend improvements

  • Assist Fund Accounting Manager on all accounting related projects


 
What you will bring:

  • Previous experience in a fund accounting or similar role

  • Formal superannuation qualifications (or the undertaking to complete RG-146 within 12 months of appointment)

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications – CA/CPA qualified

  • Practical experience with superannuation technology systems. Experience with Acurity will be highly regarded

  • Genuine services skills and knowledge of all processes within superannuation/financial administration

  • An ability to demonstrate a willingness and potential to learn, an ability to accurately follow procedures and genuine customer service skills

  • Ability and desire to fully understand the financial and administration solution we are providing to our Key Clients.

  • Strong numeracy skills, familiarity with spreadsheets and analytical and reporting tools

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and with external and internal clients and stakeholders

  • Track record of successful delivery; meeting deadlines with accuracy and quality

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Working knowledge of fund accounting, legislative and taxation issues

  • Ability to prepare and deliver fund financials and statutory reports in the prescribed format, ensuring timetables are met and all parties are correctly notified

  • Ability to use initiative to identify and recommend better processes to improve procedures

  • Demonstrated adherence to processes and procedures to deliver quality services
