Your New Role

Central FP&A enables Fund leaders to make better decisions through clear financial narratives, disciplined forecasting and performance reporting, and forward‑looking insight.

As our FP&A Lead, you will play a key role in Fund‑wide planning and performance deliverables, build high‑trust partnerships across Finance and the Fund, and translate complex financial and operational drivers into decision‑ready recommendations for senior leadership and governance forums.

This role can be based in Melbourne or Sydney.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

Executive-ready performance storytelling

  • Deliver decision-ready performance insights for senior leaders and governance forums (clear drivers, implications, options and recommendations).
  • Shape and align Fund-wide financial narratives with Finance Business Partners and SMEs across Investments, Member and Enterprise domains.

Planning, forecasting & insight

  • Support the cadence for the 3-year business plan and quarterly forecasts, ensuring high-quality inputs, aligned assumptions and on-time delivery.
  • Build driver-based models and deliver scenario and sensitivity analysis to inform trade-offs, risks and actions.
  • Provide decision support across centrally managed projects by tracking funding movements and highlighting emerging pressures and implications.

Modern FP&A ways of working

  • Act as a power user of planning/reporting tools (e.g., Oracle EPM), protecting data integrity and lifting self-service insight.
  • Drive standardisation and automation to improve cycle time, reduce manual effort and strengthen repeatability.

Leadership through influence

  • Coach and uplift analysts and peers through informal leadership - raising modelling standards, narrative quality and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure our Members First culture is consistently and firmly embedded across the team.

What You’ll Need

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • CA/CPA/CFA/CIMA/FIAA or equivalent
  • Progressive experience in related roles (FP&A, Finance partnering, financial modelling, consulting, actuarial etc.)
  • Highly analytical with ability to turn complex data into clear insights
  • Curious, commercially minded, and comfortable operating in a complex environment
  • Knowledge of the superannuation and/or financial services industries preferred
  • Ability to build strong relationships, communicate with impact, and constructively challenge assumptions to shape decisions and outcomes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of financial systems (e.g., Oracle, Hyperion)

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
