Job Expectations

A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for an Executive Manager Technology Programs Director reporting to the General Manager Network Strategy.

A bit about your role

As the Executive Manager Technology Program Director, you will support and coordinate the delivery of complex transformation and product initiatives that underpin nbn’s one to three‑year strategic roadmap. You will bring coherence, rhythm and momentum to a diverse portfolio of work, ensuring initiatives are aligned to strategic intent while enabling sustainable change, capability uplift and confident market adoption of new products.

A core focus of this role is people leadership. You will lead a highly technical team of architects operating in a pool‑based model, partnering closely with Engineers across Wireless and Satellite, Core and HFC technologies. In a matrixed and virtual environment, you will provide clear direction, create connection and build trust, while confidently engaging with senior engineering peers to balance technical rigour with delivery outcomes. Your leadership will create space for collaboration, healthy challenge and shared accountability across teams.

You will support the development and execution of a one to three‑year transformation roadmap, coordinating delivery milestones and monitoring progress against agreed outcomes. With a strong grasp of operational planning and agile delivery practices, you will help teams navigate complexity, resolve delivery challenges and lift performance. You will also provide thoughtful input into budget allocation and investment decisions within defined guardrails, escalating risks or changes to scope and timeframes where needed, and ensuring financial discipline and value realisation remain front of mind.

A bit about you

If this sounds like the role for you, you will bring deep experience leading complex programs in large, multi‑disciplinary environments, ideally within telecommunications or similarly technical sectors. You combine strong program strategy and delivery capability with sufficient engineering insight to engage credibly with senior technical experts, ask the right questions and constructively challenge when required.

You are, above all, a people‑centred leader. You thrive in guiding highly specialised professionals, building inclusive and connected teams even when they sit virtually across the organisation. Your leadership style is collaborative, calm and confident, enabling others to do their best work while staying aligned to shared goals. You are comfortable operating with ambiguity, balancing long‑term strategy with day‑to‑day delivery, and you bring a pragmatic, commercially minded approach to decision‑making.

Motivated by purpose and impact, you value partnership, clarity and continuous improvement. With your ability to connect strategy, people and delivery, you will help nbn build the capability it needs to deliver for customers today and into the future.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
