The Role

The Executive Director, Owner Relations and Account Management will lead IFM’s strategic engagement with the multi-layered teams and complex decision-making structures of the large Australian superannuation funds among the 16 profit-to-member superannuation and pension funds who own IFM.  The Executive Director will provide a single-point interface that strengthens trust, drives durable commercial outcomes, and ensures exceptional investor service. The role steers account management across IFM’s Owners representing their interests within IFM while advancing the organisation’s long-term objectives.  In addition, this role will support collaboration and coordination across IFM teams and provide insights to different business units regarding account objectives.

 

Your Background and Experience

  • 15 years’ experience in institutional investment or funds management, including at least 5 years in an executive leadership role.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with senior investment executives across Australia’s largest superannuation funds.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing multi‑year strategic plans that deliver measurable commercial and relationship outcomes.
  • Hands‑on experience in private equity, infrastructure, private credit, real estate, and other alternative asset classes.
  • Experience presenting to boards, investment committees, and senior governance forums.
  • 15 years’ experience in a relevant discipline, supported by a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; CFA, MBA, or equivalent desirable.
  • Ability to understand and navigate evolving organisational, investment, and regulatory needs.
  • Insight into the priorities, challenges, and expectations of large asset owners.
  • Ability to identify and leverage opportunities that align investor needs with IFM’s growth objectives.
  • Ability to think holistically about our superannuation fund owners’ needs across all asset classes and negotiate strong relationship and partnership outcomes for IFM.
  • Advanced understanding of fiduciary institutional investment, manager selection, and investment governance frameworks.
  • Advanced capability in multi‑asset portfolio construction, risk management, and performance attribution.
  • Strong understanding of valuation, liquidity, and risk considerations across private equity, infrastructure, private credit, and real estate.
