Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee financial reporting, governance and commercial insights across a diverse property portfolio. Reporting to the Account Manager, you will work collaboratively with client representatives, property teams and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate financial outcomes, support compliance requirements and provide meaningful insights to support property operations.

This role will be responsible for managing key finance deliverables including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations and audit requirements, while ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and BGIS financial processes.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and approachable finance professional who enjoys building positive working relationships, supporting team development and improving processes through innovation. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full financial reporting across the property portfolio, including lease accounting, outgoings reconciliations and property cost tracking.
  • Manage month-end processes including balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger activities, recurring journals and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets, forecasts and management reports to meet client and stakeholder requirements.
  • Ensure finance deliverables are completed in line with contract requirements, BGIS systems, legislation and accounting standards.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support property decisions and improve business outcomes.
  • Maintain strong financial governance and identify opportunities to improve processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Support audit requirements and ensure accuracy and consistency across financial records.
  • Encourage teamwork and support the ongoing development and capability of finance team members.
  • Build positive relationships with internal teams, client representatives, tenants, suppliers and external stakeholders.

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in Finance Management.
  • Proven experience working within an integrated services, property management, facilities management or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and commercial management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end processes, reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, standards and accounting requirements.
  • High level proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, commerce or a related discipline.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing a finance team and supporting team development.
  • Experience within a property management environment, including knowledge of Estate Agents Act trust accounting requirements.
  • Experience supporting government property portfolios.
  • Knowledge and experience using property management systems such as Manhattan and/or PropertyMe.
  • Victorian trust accounting training.

Workplace Flexibility

This position is based in Melbourne CBD, conveniently located close to public transport.

The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with approximately three days based in the office and two days working from home, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.
