Company Description

Ramsay Health Care, a global operator of private hospitals and primary care clinics with over 70 Australian sites employing over 34,000 people. We have been focused on delivering high-quality patient care and practising the Ramsay Way philosophy of ‘People Caring for People’ since 1964.

Job Description

As the Enterprise Agreements Implementation Lead, you are the voice of payroll in the room where EA clauses are being drafted, and the translator of those clauses into something that can actually be configured, tested and paid correctly. You will work across Industrial Relations, Workforce Planning, HR and Systems teams, bringing a practical operational lens to proposed terms before they are locked in — and giving those teams early, credible visibility of what each clause will cost in system change, testing effort and payroll workload.

It is a role built on influence rather than authority. Your value comes from being the person other teams seek out before they commit to a position, because your advice is timely, well-reasoned and grounded in how pay is really processed.

What you'll be doing

Shaping outcomes through stakeholder engagement

  • Build and sustain trusted working relationships across Industrial Relations, Workforce Planning, HR Business Partners, Systems and the broader Payroll team
  • Represent payroll capability and constraints in EA negotiation and implementation forums, ensuring operational reality informs industrial strategy
  • Translate technical payroll and system constraints into language that lands with non-payroll audiences, and industrial language into clear requirements for configuration and testing

Influencing the agreement before it's signed

  • Review proposed EA clauses for operational feasibility, flagging drafting that is ambiguous, unworkable or disproportionately expensive to administer
  • Provide structured, evidence-based feedback into the negotiation process — surfacing the downstream implications of clause design early, while there is still room to change it
  • Offer alternative drafting approaches that achieve the intent of a clause while remaining configurable and auditable

Driving operational readiness

  • Partner with Systems teams to scope, plan and sequence the configuration changes required to support new or varied agreement terms
  • Assess interpretation questions and provide authoritative advice to teams applying the agreement in practice
  • Anticipate workload and timing pressures arising from new provisions, and communicate them early enough for other teams to plan around

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience in a complex, high-volume payroll environment, ideally in a large or multi-site organisation
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting industrial instruments — enterprise agreements, awards and the interaction between them — and applying them within a payroll system
  • A track record of influencing without direct authority: credibility with senior stakeholders, comfort holding a position under pressure, and the judgement to know when to escalate and when to find a path through
  • Strong understanding of payroll system configuration, testing methodology and the discipline required to move a change safely from clause to pay run
  • Exposure to payroll governance frameworks and controls
  • Project delivery experience, with the ability to work to defined timeframes across multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Background in healthcare, aged care, retail or another award-dependent, rostered industry would be well regarded

Why this role

This is a genuinely cross-functional role with visibility across the industrial, operational and systems sides of the organisation. If you understand that the quality of an enterprise agreement is ultimately judged by whether people are paid correctly under it — and you want to be in the conversation early rather than inheriting the consequences — this will suit you.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
