Are you ready to shape the future of data?

Matillion is the company behind Maia, the AI Data Automation platform.

In the AI economy, demand for data is exploding. Manual data engineering can’t keep up. Maia fixes that by combining 15 years of data expertise with agentic AI to eliminate the manual work that slows data teams down. Organisations like Cisco, DocuSign, and Slack are already using it to deliver real business impact, faster.

We started in Manchester and now we’re global - with teams across the UK, US and India.

We are driven, curious, energetic people who move fast, think big and hold ourselves to a high standard. We’re here to make a dent in the universe bigger than ourselves. And we’re looking for people who want to be part of it.

About the role

Most Account Managers present options. You close them.
You'll own a portfolio of existing Matillion customers with two clear objectives: convert customers on flexible, no-contract billing into committed annual agreements, and turn struggling or at-risk accounts back into healthy, growing ones. This is a business-first role - you need enough technical fluency to hold a credible conversation about the product, but success comes from reading a customer's usage, value, and risk profile, and knowing exactly how to act on it. You'll run your own book, make the call on where your time goes, and know when an account needs your full attention versus when it needs an escalation.

What you will be doing

  • Own your book: Actively manage a portfolio of customer accounts, tracking usage, health, and commercial status, and prioritizing your effort where the risk or opportunity is greatest.
  • Convert flexible billing to committed contracts: Identify pay-as-you-go customers ready to move to a committed annual agreement, build the business case using usage trends and value delivered, and close it.
  • Turn around at-risk accounts: Diagnose why an account is struggling - product adoption, service issues, unmet expectations - build a remediation plan, coordinate the right resources, and track it back to healthy.
  • Get ahead of risk: Proactively monitor early signs of decline across your book and intervene before an account becomes a churn risk.
  • Work cross-functionally: Partner with technical, support, and product teams to resolve issues, represent the customer's voice internally, and escalate when an account needs deeper commercial or technical expertise.

What we are looking for

  • Proven book ownership: Demonstrable experience managing a portfolio in customer success, account management, or renewals/sales, with a track record of hitting retention or revenue targets.
  • Closer, not just presenter: You've walked a customer through a pricing or contract change and closed it - not just laid out options.
  • Working technical fluency: Comfortable enough with cloud/SaaS products to diagnose why a customer is struggling, without needing an engineer in the room.
  • Turnaround experience: A real track record of recovering a dissatisfied or at-risk customer relationship, not just growing accounts that were already healthy.
  • CRM discipline: Fluent in Salesforce or equivalent - pipeline hygiene, forecasting, and reporting are second nature.
  • Personal capabilities: Organized under volume, direct with customers when it counts, operates independently with minimal hand-holding, and steady under pressure with frustrated or churn-risk accounts.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
