About the Personal Investor Client Platform Team 

Personal Investor has established platform teams that are technically excellent and highly motivated to deliver high-quality platform components and services for other Vanguard Client Experience teams to leverage and build on effectively.  

The Personal Investor native app has a modern, scalable mobile platform and delivery practice that enables Journey teams to efficiently and autonomously deliver great native mobile experiences for Vanguard clients.  

Personal Investor has a mature, healthy and scalable D2C digital platform that makes delivering client experiences and business outcomes simple and efficient.   

Our Team & Opportunity  

The Engineer Manager, the Client Platform leads the engineering teams creating and maintaining the platforms that power the Personal Investor digital experiences.  

 

You contribute to a knowledge driven workplace culture, being curious about the world around you, finding new ways to explore and bring new thinking and practises to embed within the team. You have open mindset towards people, technology and processes. 

 

You work in a close partnership with various product teams and enable our Client experience team to deliver continuous, stable and secure features to our clients. 

 

This role will lead the following roles:   

  • Application Engineers  

  • Technical Lead  

  • Consulting application engineers   

 

Core Responsibilities 

  • Anticipate needs of engineering teams and create strategic initiatives to ensure the platform team is ready for future. 

  • Work closely with product teams and Client experience engineers to understand the need and translate that into technical roadmap  

  • Own execution & delivery on your engineering team and help the team balance new feature work with tech debt and platform investment. 

  • Drive the continuous improvement of processes and ways of work to improve team capacity & capability 

  • Client platform team will be distributed between Australia and India(outsourcing partner). We encourage culture of close collaboration & good communication across time zones. 

 

Skills required to be successful: 

  • Solid engineering background that has kept pace with new technologies and strong understanding of Web and mobile systems in distributed cloud environment (AWS). 

  • Own the code - help lead system & technical design, ensure code meets the highest standard of quality & maintainability. 

  • Strong knowledge of mobile app and web development frameworks, tools and languages including react native, typescript, react, restful API design, Automated testing and more. 

  • Strong in software architecture and design patterns with particular focus on microservices and micro frontends. 

 

This role will suit someone who has come from a strong tech leadership background and willing to take on responsibilities as a people leader
