The Nokia IP Network Solution Architect will serve as a subject matter expert in Nokia's IP routing and switching technologies, with a particular emphasis on engaging directly with customers to turn business requirements into architectures and designs that can be optimized, and integrated using the Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP) for service automation, assurance, and network management. This role requires a strong consultative approach to understand customer challenges & business needs, then translate them into effective technical solutions.
 

Responsibilities
  • Customer Engagement & Consultancy: Act as a primary technical consultant and trusted advisor to customers, leading discussions to understand their strategic business objectives, operational challenges, and technical requirements.
  • Solution Design & Architecture: Lead the end-to-end design and architecture of complex IP/MPLS network solutions, incorporating Nokia's IP routing and switching platforms (e.g., 7750 SR, 7950 XRS, 7250 IXR, 7705 SAR), ensuring alignment with customer needs and business value.
  • NSP Platform Integration: Design and implement solutions that fully leverage the capabilities of the Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP) for network automation, service orchestration, assurance, and analytics across IP/MPLS domains, demonstrating its value proposition to customers.
  • Technical Expertise & Advocacy: Provide expert-level technical consultation on Nokia IP product features, functionalities, and best practices to customers, sales teams, and project delivery teams, effectively articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Requirements Analysis & Translation: Translate customer business and technical requirements into requirements documentation that maps to high-level and low-level design documents, and test strategies, ensuring alignment with Nokia's product roadmap, best practise industry standards that not just meet but exceed customer expectations.
  • Project Leadership & Delivery: Lead and oversee the technical delivery of complex IP/MPLS network solutions, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, quality standards, and proven project delivery processes, from design hand-off through implementation and acceptance.
  • Proof of Concept (PoC) & Trials: Support and lead technical aspects of Proof of Concept (PoC) activities, customer trials, and demonstrations, collaborating closely with customers to showcase the value and capabilities of Nokia IP and NSP solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with sales, pre-sales, product management, and professional services teams to ensure successful solution delivery and high customer satisfaction, managing expectations and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Documentation & Standards: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including customer requirements, solution architecture, solution designs, test collateral, implementation guides, and operational procedures, tailored for customer understanding where appropriate. Maintaining the mapping from developed requirements through the various stages of the delivery lifecycle. 
  • Market Insight: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in IP networking and network automation, particularly concerning Nokia's portfolio, to proactively advise customers on future-proof solutions.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience of working with customers in pre-sales through the various stages to delivery conclusion 
  • Nokia Certifications (e.g. NRS II, SRA).
  • Deep IP/MPLS Expertise: Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting large-scale IP/MPLS networks, including routing protocols (OSPF, ISIS, BGP), MPLS VPNs (L2VPN, L3VPN), Segment Routing, and QoS.
  • Nokia IP Product Knowledge: Proven hands-on experience with Nokia's IP routing and switching platforms (e.g., 7750 SR, 7950 XRS, 7250 IXR, 7705 SAR) and their operating systems (SR OS).
  • Nokia NSP Platform Proficiency: Strong understanding and practical experience with the Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP), specifically focusing on its capabilities for:
    • Configuration Management: Utilizing NSP's Network Functions Manager for Packet (NFM-P) for device and service configuration, including template-based provisioning and policy enforcement.
    • Model-Driven Management: Leveraging NSP's support for YANG models and service templates to enable consistent, automated, and policy-driven network configuration and service orchestration across IP/MPLS domains.
    • Network Use & Operations: Proficiency in NSP's operational tools for service activation, performance monitoring (NSP Flow, Analytics), fault management, and assurance, ensuring optimal network performance and reliability.
    • Automation & Orchestration: Designing and implementing automation workflows using NSP Automate to streamline network operations and service delivery.
  • Network Automation: Experience with network automation concepts, tools, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) in the context of IP networks and NSP.
  • Network Architecture Delivery Frameworks: Solid understanding and practical experience with industry-standard network architecture and solution delivery frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, ITIL, SAFE, or similar methodologies) to guide solution development and deployment lifecycle.
  • Experience with cloud networking concepts and technologies.
  • Knowledge of SDN/NFV principles and their application in IP networks.
  • Experience in a pre-sales or professional services consulting role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in network engineering, architecture, or solution design roles, with a significant focus on IP/MPLS and Nokia products, including substantial customer-facing experience.
