As an Engineer - System Safety, you will play a critical role in applying systems safety engineering principles to identify, analyse, and mitigate safety risks throughout the system lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop safety requirements, conduct hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Define and document safety requirements aligned with regulatory standards and customer expectations.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments using techniques such as FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis.
- Develop and execute safety verification and validation plans.
- Lead safety reviews including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Safety Design Reviews (SDR).
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive safety documentation
- Ensure that all safety engineering activities comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and enterprise policies.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including safety plans, hazard logs, and safety assessment reports.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate safety findings, provide updates, and ensure alignment on safety objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety engineering practices.
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in systems safety engineering, including hazard analysis and safety verification.
- Proficiency with safety engineering methodologies (FMEA, FTA) and aerospace standards (ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254).
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with safety analysis tools and software.
Desirable:
- Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Functional Safety Engineer (FSE).
- Experience in aerospace safety-critical systems.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
- Able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
- You may require a Foreign Work Authorisation (FWA) in order to perform this role. This is not a requirement set or determined by Boeing but by the Department of Defence under laws issued in 2024. Please refer to the Department of Defence website to understand these requirements.
